"THE WORD."
I. WHAT DOES JOHN TELL US OF THE WORD?
A. He existed in the beginning.
1. In the beginning God, Elohim.
2. "That which was from beginning."
B. He was with God.
1. Co-existant with the Father.
2. Co-equal with the Father.
Phil. 2:6 "Who being in the Form of God."
C. He was God.
1. "All things were made by Him."
a. "He was in the world and the world was..."
b. The world is just a part of "all things."
D. "In Him was life."
1. That age-abiding eternal life of God
2. "I am the ressurection and the life."
3. This life is the light of man.
a. Think how dark this world is apart from Christ.
b. Think how dark your life was or would be.
II. "THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US."
A. This is one of the great mysteries of God.
a. "He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father."
b. Source of constant awe.
I John 1:1, heard, seen, looked upon, handled.
B. This was the promise of God.
1.
Isa. 7:14 "Behold a virgin shall conceive."
C. "We beheld His glory."
1. On Mount of transfiguration.
2. "Full of grace and truth."
D. Why was God manifested in the flesh?
1. So He could understand our limitations.
a. He thirst, He hungered, He was tired, He wept, He died.
b. To understand, so as to better help.

Heb. 4:15: "For we have not a High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities..."
2. So that we might have a clearer revelation of God.
a. "God who at sundry times and in divers..."
b. Man had imagined God as always angry and ready to condemn.
3. To make the way of salvation.
a. To take our sins and die in our place.
4. To place God within reach.
a. Which we have handled.
b. So man can touch God.
III. THIS SAME JESUS IS COMING AGAIN IN THE FLESH.
A. This despite what the Jehovah Witnesses say.
1. In their handbook "Make sure of all things" page 430. Return of Christ, "Christ gave fleshly body for mankind, not to take it back by returning in flesh."
2. Yet in the Stephen Byington translation that they sell, 11
John 7 reads "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an anti-Christ".
B. Coming not as infant or in weakness. Power and great glory.
