"THE WONDERFUL COUNSELOR"
Intro: Shaft of Sunlight on dark day, Human side, "a child is born," divine side, "a Son is given."
I. "HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED WONDERFUL."
A. His past pre-existent life with the Father.
1. In the beginning was the Word."
2. Let "us" make man.
B. His present position as intercessor.
1. "Who is He that condemneth?"
2. "Wherefore He is able to save to the uttermost."
C. His future "King of Kings and Lord of Lords."
1. "Wherefore God-has highly exalted Him and given."
II. HIS NAME IS CALLED WONDERFUL COUNSELOR.
A. The world's woes created by a counsel.
B. There's a lot of counsel today that is damning the world.
1. "Blessed is the man who walketh not in the..."
2. The ungodly will counsel you to forsake God
a. His principles.
b. His counsel.
c. Advise is plentiful, good advise is scarce.
C. How would you like to receive wonderful counsel?
1. Counsel that is totally right.
2. A lot of people don't want that kind.
3. They go to a counselor that he might confirm their ideas.
4. They become angry and cease the counselor if he speaks the truth.
D. To the Laodicean Church "I counsel thee."
"As many as I love I rebuke and chasten."
III. HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED WONDERFUL COUNSELOR.
A. This Child that was born was the mighty God.
1. He who nourished and sustained the world was for a time nourished and sustained upon Mary's breasts.
IV. HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED "THE EVERLASTING FATHER."
A. Two Hebrew words translated everlasting.
1. Vanishing point.
2. Terminus or beyond the vanishing point.
B. Here we enter into that glorious mystery of the trinity, the three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost and these three are one."
V. HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED THE PRINCE OF PEACE.
A. "Think not that I am come to send peace on the earth, I came not to send peace but a sword." Matt. 10:34.
B. Some see here a contradiction not so.
a. James 3:17 - "The wisdom that is from above is first pure then peaceable."
b. The sword is the instrument by which peace is brought.
C. Peace in our individual lives.
a. Christ first comes with a sword to cut away that which is keeping us from peace.
b. As long as we try to hold on to some impure thing in our life we can never have peace.
c. Purity first then peace.
d. The contradictory paradox in world these supposed advocates of peace.
They also advocate those very things that make peace impossible.
D. Peace in the social life.
E. Peace in the national life.
IS HE TO YOU ALL THAT HIS NAME IMPLIES?
