Intro: David's charge before the princes to his young and tender son Solomon.
I. "KNOW THE GOD OF THY FATHER."

1. Through acquaintance and experience and relationship.
2. This knowledge must be first-hand.
C. How is one to know?
1. "If thou seek Him, He will be found of thee."
a. Some stand around waiting to be discouraged.
b. Want God to reveal Himself in some special way.
1. He has! ! ! - in His Son.
2. God has made His move, now it's your turn.
II. "SERVE HIM."
A. Knowing Him must precede serving "Who art thou Lord, that I might serve Thee?"
B. How are we to serve?
1. "With a perfect heart."
a. A heart "completely" towards Him.
b. Not a divided heart.
c. "For the Lord searcheth the hearts."
2. Willing mind.
a. Ready to obey without question.
b. We read so many doubts into promises and commands.
c. "He understands the imaginations of the thoughts"
3. With our whole being.
a. Heart - spirit
b. Mind - soul
4. With confidence - "take heed now for the Lord hath chosen thee."
a. Make your calling + election sure.
5. With strength - "be strong." "My God will be with thee." "He will not fail thee." (When God guides, God provides.) God has led me to do this great work for Him, but if you don't send in your support, I can't do it. When God guides, He will see it thru. "He will not fail or forsake until thou hast finished all the work."
Recognizing the value of consistent reflection upon the Word of God in order to refocus one's mind and heart upon Christ and His Gospel of peace, we provide several reading plans designed to cover the entire Bible in a year.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical,
conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy
of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a
range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed
in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
