Note some of the “comes” of Christ as illustrating the fulness and freeness of His Gospel.

  1. Regard.Come down” (Luke 19:5).
  2. Rest.Come unto Me, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28).
  3. Refreshment.Come and drink” (John 7:37). “Come and take” (Rev. 22:17).
  4. Re-animation.Come forth” (John 11:43).
  5. Responsibility.Come after Me” (Mark 8:34).
  6. Reward.Cometh to Me shall never hunger” (John 6:35).
  7. Response.Come and see” (John 1:39).

Mr. Spurgeon says of the last come, this is a “loving invitation,” and says, “At the beginning of the Gospel, Christ said, ‘Come and see;’ at the close, ‘Come and dine.’ The first is for babes in Christ, the second for strong men.”
