THE key word of the Epistle to the Hebrews is the term “Better.” It occurs no less than thirteen times (Heb. 1:4; Heb. 6:9; Heb. 7:7, Heb. 7:19, Heb. 7:22; Heb. 8:6; Heb. 9:23; Heb. 10:34; Heb. 11:16, Heb. 11:35, Heb. 11:40; Heb. 12:24). The word is rendered “Best” in 1 Cor. 12:31, and, as it will be seen, it means that which is of greater power and effect. It will be noticed that prophets, angels and men are placed in contrast with Christ, and as the stars pale in the presence of the sun, so all these are eclipsed by Him.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
