  3. God’s Salvation for Man
    1. The error of the Jews – Rom 9:30-33; 10:1-21
      1. They tried to attain righteousness on their own
        1. The Gentiles – saving faith – Rom 9:30
        2. The Jews – no saving faith – Rom 9:31-33
          1. They trusted in themselves
          2. They trusted in their external ceremonies
          3. They failed God
      2. They did not respond to God’s method of salvation – Rom 10:1-15
        1. They were blind – Rom 10:1-5
          1. Zeal without knowledge – Rom 10:1-2
          2. Spiritually ignorant – Rom 10:3
            1. Ignorant of God’s righteousness
            2. Attempted to establish their own righteousness
        2. Their chief problem – “They have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God”
    2. A clear statement of the only means of salvation – Rom 10:4-10
      1. Christ is the complete fulfillment of the entire Law in behalf of every believer
        1. Only Christ fulfilled the Law
        2. His gift of imputed righteousness is sinful man’s only hope
        3. The Law is not a rule of life or a means of righteousness
      2. Christ has come to man – Rom 10:6-8
      3. Man responds to God
        1. Confess with the mouth
          1. Confession is the result of believing
          2. Confession is an aid to assurance
        2. Believe in the heart
          1. Believe the Gospel personally
            1. The death
            2. The resurrection
      4. The certain result – “Thou shalt be saved”
        1. A new home in heaven
        2. A new creature on earth
