Zibeon:
iniquity that dwells
Zibeon:
zib'-e-on (tsibhon, "hyena"; HPN, 95; Sebegon): A Horite chief (Ge 36:2,14,20,24,29; 1Ch 1:38,40); he is called the "Hivite" in Ge 36:2 where "Horite" should be read with 36:20,29. In Ge 36:2,14 Anah is said to be "the daughter of Zibeon," whereas the Septuagint, the Samaritan Pentateuch, the Syriac, and Lucian have "the son of Zibeon"; compare 1Ch 1:38,40, where also Anah is Zibeon's son.
Zibeon:
(robber) father of Anah, whose daughter Aholibamah was Esau's wife (Genesis 36:2). (B.C. 1797) Although called a Hivite, he is probably the same as ZIBEON the son of Seir the Horite (Genesis 36:20; 36:24; 36:29; 1 Chronicles 1:38; 1:40).
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
