Peter’s Witness in Lydia and Joppa

  1. The Churches of Judea, Samaria, and Galilee
    1. They had rest
      1. No inner turmoil
      2. No persecution from without
    2. They were being edified
      1. Instructed in the Apostles' teaching
      2. They helped each other
    3. They were godly
      1. Living in respect for the Lord
      2. Living in the strength of the Holy Spirit
    4. They were growing
      1. Believers were multiplied
      2. Believers were established in the faith
  2. Peter’s Witness in Lydda – Act 9:32-35
    1. It was a consistent witness - throughout all parts
    2. It was a personal witness - He found a certain man
    3. It was a faithful witness - Christ was preeminent
    4. It was an effective witness - Aeneas was made whole
    5. It was a prosperous witness - many turned to the Lord
  3. Peter’s Witness in Joppa – Act 9:36-43
    1. The occasion of the witness
      1. Dorcas, a disciple, was dead
      2. The disciples sent for Peter
      3. Peter responded immediately
    2. The miracle – Act 9:40
      1. Peter exercised the power of prayer
      2. Peter exercised the power or faith
      3. The Lord brought her to life
    3. The result
      1. Many believed in the Lord
      2. This was an “Apostolic sign,” or a miracle
