The Certainty of Salvation

  1. Reconciliation with God – Rom 5:1-2
    1. The fact – being justified
    2. The means – by faith
    3. The result – peace with God
    4. The basis – through our Lord Jesus Christ
    5. The freedom – by Whom we have access – introduction

    6. The position – into this grace
      1. A position we enter into
        1. We were under law and wrath
        2. We are now in grace
      2. Every blessing is in grace
    7. The security – wherein we stand
      1. A complete relationship – union – Jhn 14:20, 17:21
      2. A permanent relationship – eternal life

      3. The practical application
        1. Faith – rest life
        2. Confidence in prayer

    10. God’s proof – Christ died for us
  2. We Were Sinners
    1. An offender
    2. Missed the mark

    4. No righteousness at all

    8. Deserves the wrath of God
    9. Deliberately disobeyed

    11. Elevates self-will above God’s will

  3. Application
    1. Those who appreciate salvation most are those who have realized their sinfulness most – Luk 7
    2. Salvation is entirely a gift
    3. This truth brings greatest assurance
    4. If salvation depends in any way upon ourselves – we have no security
    5. Assurance
      1. God has loved me
      2. God will not change
      3. I am justified
      4. I am glorified
