Aloes, Lign Aloes:
(in Heb. Ahalim, Ahaloth) the name of a costly and sweet‐smelling wood which is mentioned in Numbers 24:6; Psalm 45:8; Proverbs 7:17; Solomon 4:14; John 19:39. It is usually identified with the Aquilaria agollochum, an aromatic wood much valued in India. This tree sometimes grows to the height of 120 feet, being 12 feet in girth.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
